The FunFair Resistance Community
FunFair Fashion was born from the desire to be part of the garment industry solution, rather than the garment industry problem. We learned modern fashion is more about what you have, than about expressing who you are.
This is a problem for the planet we share together. The ways in which our clothing is produced is increasingly harmful to the environment. The amount of waste we produce is unsustainable and extremely dangerous to the people who live in the regions where we dump our textile waste.
This is a problem for the people who make our clothing. They are often underpaid, work under unsafe conditions and have no protections or securities.
This is a problem for our mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. We live in a system that constantly signals we are not enough, while simultaneously proposing buying one's worth as the solution.
FunFair Fashion organises event to raise awareness about sustainability and ethics in fashion and to celebrate ethical fashion solutions. But most of all we are building a community of resistance. Resistance against an industry which exploits the planet, its workers and its customers. Resisting consumerism can only occur in community.
The problem of the world are dire and the solutions still out of reach. Activism is a marathon, not a sprint. May the playful name FunFair Fashion remind us to smile and not take ourselves too seriously.
Always love,
Unge George Wilbers
